Ownership and rights to the Ganges river delta is disputed between India and Bangladesh. The Ganges is the primary source of freshwater for Bangladesh (Population 163 Million). India has been accused of diverting the course of the Ganges river, and consequently depriving Bangladesh of water and silt. Recently, the two nations have signed an agreement to distribute the water more evenly. However, untreated sewage, arsenic, and other pollution from India is now flowing into Bangladesh.
